Help with Grief
Grief It is felt . Tremendously so. It drives through your chest and takes root in your heart. You always knew it would because you loved deeply. What is treasured is gone and the vacuum left expands with grief. We generally don't cope well with grief. However hard we try to accept it as a natural response to loss, we struggle. Some of us fight it, some distract from it, some subconsciously delay it, some pretend that life goes on (it does, but not as we knew it). Some lean in and accept it. "Grief is having to say goodbye before we are ready" I once heard "Grief is having to say goodbye before we are ready".* This, of all the many quotes, strikes in it's simplicity. Losing a loved one is incredibly hard, we expect to grieve and so we should, we are human. But what of those other significant losses that can also trigger grief; The end of a relationship .
